Smart's cloud gaming puts 1,000 console games on your phone for 145 pesos a week
No console, no download. Smart and TNT subscribers can stream more than 1,000 console titles inside a phone browser, billed weekly to prepaid load.
Smart Communications and the French cloud gaming company Blacknut opened a service on Monday that streams console games straight into a phone browser. Smart and TNT subscribers get more than 1,000 titles, including NBA 2K, For Honor, Asphalt, Overcooked and the LEGO games, for 145 pesos a week charged to prepaid load.
Signing up is three steps. Go to blacknut.com/p/smart, type in your Smart or TNT number, then enter the one-time code sent by text. Nothing gets installed. The game actually runs on Blacknut's computers elsewhere and only the picture travels to your screen, which is why a cheap phone can still open a heavy game.
Why it matters
A console or a gaming laptop costs tens of thousands of pesos, so console games have always been for people who could pay that entry fee first. At 145 pesos a week the barrier moves from hardware you buy once to load you already top up. Smart is also leaning on its network here: Ookla's Speedtest Connectivity Report for the first half of 2025 named Smart best in the country for mobile latency, at a median of 45.88 milliseconds. Latency is the gap between pressing a button and seeing it happen, and it is the one number that decides whether cloud gaming feels playable or broken.
Lloyd R. Manaloto, first vice president and co-officer in charge at Smart, framed the pitch this way:
Cloud gaming removes the biggest barriers to enjoy console-level gaming at your fingertips.
The catch to watch
145 pesos a week is about 580 pesos a month and roughly 7,540 pesos a year, so a steady player pays off a mid-range console in a couple of years and owns nothing at the end. The announcement covers Smart and TNT numbers with the fee taken from prepaid load, and it does not spell out postpaid billing, a free trial, or how much data an hour of play burns. Streaming video for hours is not light on data, and on a weak signal the delay makes fast games unplayable. Test your connection before you commit a week of load.
