GCash put an AI money coach inside the app 90 million Filipinos already use

Pera Coach is the country's first AI financial coach built into an e-wallet. It talks to you in Taglish about your budget, and it is free.

GCash just did something no other Filipino app has done: it put a real AI financial coach inside the wallet you already use to pay for load, send money, and split the bill. It is called Pera Coach, and GCash says it is the first AI financial coach in the country embedded directly in an e-wallet.

Built with Microsoft and running on enterprise-grade AI, Pera Coach is a chat you can talk to in plain language, including Taglish. Tell it your goal, your budget, or how much risk you are comfortable with, and it answers with guidance shaped around your actual situation, not a generic article you have to go read somewhere else.

Why this matters

Financial advice in the Philippines has always been locked behind people who can afford advisers, or buried in English-heavy explainers most people never finish. Dropping a coach into an app that tens of millions open every day flips that. The lesson is not paywalled and it is not in a language that keeps people out.

It sits alongside GCash's other AI moves this year, like GScore, which reads your app activity to judge loan eligibility without piles of documents. The direction is clear: the biggest finance app in the country is betting that AI is how it reaches the Filipinos traditional banks never did.

The catch to watch

An AI coach is only as good as the guidance it gives, and money advice is high stakes. Use it as a starting point, a way to understand your options in your own language, not as the final word on a decision that affects your savings. The value is that it lowers the barrier to asking the question at all.
